Stylus is vibrating at the beginning of a record

Post by Vinylfreak86 » 13 Sep 2019 22:37

I got record that is very little warped at the beginning. It is new one, but it was among those cheaper with flaws. It has also some scratches, but nothing audible. So when lowering a stylus with cueing lever, it vibrates at the beginning and sometimes skips. Then I was just looking at a record under a light and I see scratches in lead-inn grooves area that could be made from stylus, but cannot imagine that this is my work. It never happened on my current turntable with Jico conical stylus. Could it be, that because of vibrations you can make a nick into a record even if cueing lever works perfectly and stylus is in excellent condition? :o

It won't be the stylus I'm guessing it's the record. Cue just a little further in from the edge.
