Based on sound quality alone would you choose a Japanese pressing or a US pressing (pressed at Columbia, Pitman plant and Sterling mastered)? Both released in 1985 and they are the same price.

I can say that I have "G2K40121" US "sterling mastered" US pressing

To me the sound is excellent and I'm 100% happy with it.

Thanks, JDJX! Perhaps im being too finicky, but I can pick between the two and not sure which sounds better. I know Japanese vinyl is notoriously high quality and virtually silent. However, they are also know to be mastered very bright and thin. Just hoping to get lucky that someone in here may have heard them.

Thanks again!

BTW, it's been my experiences that Japanese pressing are always always somehow superior is largely a myth , even it they are generally of high quality.

I thinks all this basically got started in the '70s when US pressers started to add fillers to the vinyl due to the oil shortage
The Japanese pressers did not do this .
Also, they might have handled recyclable edge trimmings better to prevent contamination.
