Speaking of Jess, this upbeat song here, at least in my mind, is about how she persevered in life and made her dreams a reality...A lesson more people could learn from...

Very powerful words there! 8)

Personally, I think it's the struggles that make us stronger, the problems that help us persevere and the will that helps us win in the end...Life is never an easy road and there are bound to be a few pebbles in our shoes when we walk, but this one thing I know for sure (and I can only speak for myself here)...We can't give up and we've got to keep walking!

The alternatives, at least for me, are much, much worse...

Here's an interesting song...Like a country-pop version of "Another Day In Paradise"...

And then, the older I get, the more the message of this song makes sense...

Quite poetic and sad, in fact... :(

Lori has quite a few interesting songs...Think about this one, for example...Have you ever wasted time on someone or something that you can't ever get back? Well, she understands...

She also gives some good life lessons in this one, as well...

By the way, I'm still thankful for having my mom in my life...She even sent me this to remind me of how important she is and how we have to appreciate every moment with the moms in our lives...I have a newfound appreciation for her now more than ever and I'm grateful to have her!

And by the way, if I was a kid working in a record store and my mom still loved me despite that, I'd be the happiest person in the world...Here's another video from Jay to think about...

A few enjoyable ones there from Tenille Townes through to Cheri Keaggy. The other day, while listening to the 3 Ray Stevens comedy albums I had added to my collection, I got to thinking about a couple others with more serious songs, and another hit of his fitting for this thread, Everything is Beautiful. While I paused for a moment, I got to thinking that sometimes, you need to learn to appreciate the beauty in life, and what's around you. I'll post this live video from 1970

Absolutely, B...I dig Ray's serious side as much as his comical side and this is one that always made me wonder about our fast-paced lifestyle and constant yearning for more stuff that means nothing in the end...As Ray says...

"Did you see your children growing up today
And did you hear the music of their laughter
As they set about to play
Did you catch the fragrance of those roses in your garden
Did the morning sunlight warm your soul,
Brighten up your day
Do you qualify to be alive
or is the limit of your senses so as only to survive
Hey yeah...

Spending counterfeit incentive
Wasting precious time and health
Placing value on the worthless
Disregarding priceless wealth
You can wheel and deal the best of them
And steal it from the rest of them
You know the score, their ethics are a bore..."

Sometimes, you have to get down to business (the REAL business of life) before you throw your life away...

Or as Mac Davis once said, "Stop and smell the roses"...

To quote the man...

"Hey Mister
Where you going in such a hurry
Don't you think it's time you realized
There's a whole lot more to life than work and worry
The sweetest things in life are free
And there right before your eyes..."

Truer words, my friends...and ones even I should take to heart more often...

But back to Ray for a moment...Sometimes, too, we just need to unwind...
