To speak for myself and a few more, I'm sure, yeah, that article goes here for all of us "can't seem to fill the 'voidians'"! Great piece! This could start a spin-off (no pun intended) thread, "have you ever seen an old cast-off record in a store, and did it go home with you?"...or is there? Haven't looked, haven't seen...sounds like fun, tho. Thanks, "zep/floyd"!
Sounds like a great idea, Dasher!

My record collection is like a sieve. Once one void is filled, ten more show up. I am always on the look out for unusual records, at least to me, especially if they are cheap. I look out for 50's and 60's labels I never saw before or discs from artists I know nothing about but have a scent of treasure.

Me, too, cv...It seems the void is never filled, especially when those nasty people at Record Store Day keep coming up with new and interesting titles to pique my interest! ](*,) I am also a collector of unusual records and I'm always finding strange stuff in the thrift stores...But, it keeps things fun, in any case!

vm! Have you got a copy of Cuban Pete from The Mask (Jim Carey movie) soundtrack? I last saw a copy on 12" Maxi-single twice, decided to get it the next trip in... gone, of course... haven't seen it since...
I do agree about filling the void...find 10, 4 more reveal themselves. If I was shelving things, THERE'S where I'd break myself... turntables, receivers, tape decks, CD players.... #-o  ](*,) ](*,) ...

Today, I ended up going to Pittsburgh to take someone living here to the airport, and decided to drop off a receiver I haven't got around to fixing for a repair estimate at Galaxie Electronics. Up the stairs is Jerry's records, about the largest used record store I have yet seen. While there appear to be probally millions of records, I did not find any of the ones I was looking for, at least ones I could remember while there. I did see some by familiar artistsI didn't have, but as most were in the $5,-$9 range, at these prices, I need to do some listening and go back with a list. as there is no parking lot, one must park a ways down a side street, or pay $1.50 an hour at a kiosk on sidewalk. I did take some pictures to share,
While I missed the larger sign above for Jerry's, here is the entrance

And finally, the last 2 pictures, and I'm sure several sections got overlooked, but I think these show that forget about a day record shopping, one could probably get lost for months in this store. While I didn't buy anything this trip, the youngest person living here decided to check it out and picked out a Bon Jovi single with a poster, his first record.

I did look through all these 78s anyway.

Enough records & pictures at this one, vm? I should be hearing about the receiver next month, and will most likely be making at least one more visit.

Oh man, B!! 8) I am not often speechless, but I think I'm gonna need a hydraulic jack to lift my jaw up off the floor!! Wow, just wow!! I may have to give you a short list of titles to ask about next time you're in Jerry's...Just some Pittsburgh stuff I'd love to find...I'll send you a message with more details...I may have another adventure of my own soon, too, so stay tuned! By the way, that one pic that you said was orientated incorrectly? That is the CORRECT orientation...If I was there, it would be the view I'd have after fainting to the ground!!  Is that how you felt at all walking in there? :-k

THAT place is like a candy store for us audiophiles, so I thank you for sharing!! =D> Maybe next time, you could show a bit of Galaxie Electronics, as well? :-k Hopefully, they can get your receiver fixed, as they are the pre-eminent place in the area for audio repairs! In any case, those pics are above and beyond wonderful, B!! I'm sure they don't do the place the justice it deserves!! =D>

By the way, next time you're in, you should look into that "one box of free records - one per person" that was noted on the sign in the entryway...Who knows? There might be some good stuff in there...If all else, there might be a decent dollar section, too...I always judge a record store by how good their dollar section is...If there are gems there, the rest of the store is bound to look good, too!

Whatever you do, keep us posted right here! =P~

And let this be a lesson to you guys...Big B has raised the bar now on record store pics...If you guys got any pics that top THAT place, I wanna see 'em!!

I just got to my PC to check pictures uploaded from phone, the misoriented picture was a duplicate, and I didn't see the Christmas section either  . Then again, as the place is truly overwhelming, your explanation about it's orientation does sound plausible. Note that some sections are mainly back stock of albums out front, often multiple copies of each. I also found some artists in more than one section, such as Harry Belafonte in both Calypso and Folk, and hot sellers were in a section up front (and often sold out).
