More smoothness...A huge smooth jazz radio hit, too!

...and Richard Elliot is still doing it on this Kool & The Gang cover...

Of course, to me, nobody touches the original... [-X

Seriously, listen to an hour of that and I guarantee you won't even be thinking of the cold! :D

By the way, I happen to know my classic smooth jazz as I bought lots of jazz on cassette in the 90's to make my own mixtapes...I can be fluent in almost any music genre, but I have to say that I was influenced some by our own local jazz station here, WJZZ and later, WVMV (98.7)...My love for soul, funk and pop eventually crossed over into the jazz realm, and those mixtapes are some of the best things to put on when I need to wind down and relax...The smooth jazz genre has been slighted at times, but it is still one of those genres where real musicianship is present and you can't just auto-tune a song into a hit...Too bad vinyl was waning at the time I bought those tapes (and later CD's), but I still can hear the music! :D

Now that guy sounds cool n' smooth! I like it!
Sweet Thing is one of my favorite CD's.
Note: I listen to what I've got regardless of the source.

I will have to agree with you on that one, Joe! "Metropolis" from his debut album, "Trust" ain't bad, either! It's the first time I'd ever heard of Boney James!

Although I do have to admit this one is a classic radio tune...

I have a thing for those radio station compilations, too, that feature lots of these jazz highlights...

While I didn't list strictly "sax" tunes, omegabri, your thread here was partly the impetus for me starting this one...

Take a look...You might find some more favorites in the jazz realm you may have not considered, and consider myself to be an expert somewhat on the contemporary stuff of the last 40 years!
