That'll teach her! 8) #-o I know, not YOUR girl, but hey, do it for your friend! =D>
With what I read, gurss and fear (my own fear, BTB), it looks to be an easy one, also. I have a stuck speed selector on my 1218 that probably needs some surgical maneuvers, too. Let us know how it turns out (...aaand I will do the same...)!

While searching for some lps during a local yard sale i asked if there were any records for sale. The kind gentleman informed me that he did but didn't have them out - lucky for me! Within a week or two - can't remember, i returned and bought about 40 or 50 lps. He then asked if i was interested in a turntable. I was, but didn't have enough cash at the time so i made another trip about a week later. It was a Dual CS621 in really nice shape :o) I am just now getting ready to start some maintenance on it. It runs fine but the arm doesn't return. Will have to check with a service manual first. I have been using a DD Technics for years now and i am curious as to the sound comparison. Needs a new cartridge too.

Yes, indeed, lucky for you on both counts! I'm kicking myself for passing up on a Dual 6xx (don't remember the rest of the number, just the 6...) at a record store that has audio equipment. Didn't have the funds at the moment.
I read about the 600's. They seem to be more fine Duals. Love mine!

Got a 1264 from a local record store a few blocks down from where I live. Upgraded from an Onkyo CP-1011F.

I knew about them for a really long time. By chance I bought and restored one because the price was incredible. Now I have three: the p1010sv which I use everyday and love, the p51 and the 1214 cs 12 with magnetic cart. I would never go back to anything else, these were built like tanks, quality materials and precise engineering.

This is a fun story. I have 3 duals, a 1019, 1214 and 1229. In ’06 or ‘07(can’t remember exactly) a coworker brought me a newspaper clipping of a classified ad for an auction. This was an auction for the contents of a local camera and audio store that had been in business from the 60’s until he closed sometime in the 90’s. Apparently the remaining inventory had been stored ever since. One of the things in the ad was “dual turntables”. So the following Saturday, off I went.

I got to the sale and was completely blown away by how much new old stuff was there, it was like walking into a time capsule! There were Dual turntables in unopened boxes, sitting in stacks. They were mostly 1214’s and 1216’s, but I did find a 1229 in an open box but clearly had never been removed. I ended up buying 9 of the 14 and 16’s and the 1229. There were also the United Audio bases and dust covers in unopened boxes that were auctioned separately. I made sure I got those to go with the tables. I ended up with about $65 each in the small decks and slightly under $100 for the 1229.

The 1229 lives with me now and is my favorite table. I sold all but 1 of the others on the big auction site, and made a nice profit on them!

I could go on and on with more stories about that sale, but not sure this thread is the place. It was one of those once in a lifetime things that I’m sure glad I didn’t miss!
