Jean-Luc and Klaus:
Just a quick note to thank you for your posting "Servicing Dual Continuous Pole Motors and Drive Systems". In particular the cardboard protective ring when inverting the T.T; the recommended method for the removal of the idler wheel; and the advice to wear latex gloves. All good pieces of information in addition to your clear step-by-stem procedure.

Have you posted other pieces like this? If so how can I locate them?
Many thanks.

Hi again. Since my last email to you I worked on my TT using your tutorial. One thing that you may want to look at is the disconnection & re-connection of the electrical during this process.
Please take this as my involvement and not as a criticism of your good work.
Thanks once again!

I'm not sure what you mean. Disconnect turntable from the mains or disconnect motor from the ac switch of turntable?
If you mean the later, it is not needed. The wires are long enough for servicing in situ. Another thing I was afraid of, is that someone may replace wires incorrectly or worse break of the pins in the switch box. In all the years I worked on these motors I never removed the cables unless the stator needed changing.
If it is the mains supply, I hope that it's self evident and by removing the turntable from the base/plinth it would require this step already.
I appreciate any suggestion and consider them always as constructive.
Thanks!
k

Hi, I meant the motor from the AC. Thanks for clarifying your reasons.

I'm having problems removing the idler wheel. If i use a screwdriver to pushdown on the shaft i have to apply allot of force and still nothing happens. Is this normal, should i use more force? I have a Dual 1019.

Hi,
Make sure that you use a screwdriver that is narrower than the plastic ring which holds the idler in place and push against your fingers (under the idler) as in picture. It will require some pressure before it lets go. Every 1019 was serviced that way, so don't worry about using more force.
Regards,
k

Thanks for the reply. The screwdriver was small enough, but i'm gonna try it again. :D

I wish I had stumbled upon this a week ago and my Dual 1229 would have got a better service and I would've had easier time with it - I had some piece of documentation but it wasn't as good a piece as this. Well.. next time if there's gonna be one. Thanks for the great work!

Last night, I used this guide to service my Dual 1019 motor. Super easy to follow and made something that seems like a chore quite fun!

Cannot wait for future tutorials!
