Check this 1229! Crazy DC!

Post by Awe-d-o-file » 21 Nov 2019 01:17

My buddies dad brought a 1229 back from Germany circa 73? Has a 220-240 label on it. Converted to 120/60 there before brought back. Lots of US soldiors.

Anyway I refurbed it for him. Very nice. Soft idler wheel. V15 type lll. Works like a champ now and wasn't bad when I got it.

So this is a crap pic to show the DC. But it's so cool. Front folds up then slides back. Those of you that have seen one will know exactly what I mean. I've read threads that say this DC is unobtanium and very pricey. Anyone know its model number? Tiny crack in his. What should he pay? Thanks in advance

Just finishing the restoration of the same DC. It's a CH21, only distributed in Europe.
Looks sturdier than the one with nylon hinges but these hinges (strong plastic and metal screws) tend to break at their (weaker) plexi side. Had a job (and luck) to find the right hinges at two different sources (a nice guy from VE and an e-bay seller in Germany.)
Mine is on the work bench, with a just glued hinge drying.
My 1229 looks just like yours with a pitch adjustment next to the speed selector. Does yours also feature an extra CD4 scale on the anti skate knob? If yes, it means that it was ready for quadra (but with a lot more devices, pre-amps and so on).
Fabulous machine! And even quieter than the 1219 (or is it only an impression?)
Congrats for your find and enjoy!
Cheers,

Hugh
