New to vinylengine and looking to get my Duals back into service.
Have two 1229Q and one 1226 that I'm going to be working on.
The question is, can someone recommend a rubber rejuvenator for the idler wheel and give me some tips on usage? ie, Do I rub it all over the wheel or just on the outside rim of the idler?
Also working on the age-old "tone arm not returning to rest" issue on both 1229Qs.
This site has already taught me so much. Hope I can give some back in the future.
Thanks!

Re: Rubber Rejuvenator for 1229Q Idler
I used MG Chemicals Rubber Renue not on an idler from a turntable but one from a cassette deck. After soaking (total immersion) for several hours then wiping off the excess, it did work but it was short lived. Maybe a month or so.
With turntable idlers I fit them into the chuck of an electric drill however I can manage it and using a block, sand down the edge until I hit good rubber.
This is the only method of treatment whereby I’ve been able to continue using an existing idler.
Having said that, it is possible an idler can be too far gone to be rescued. Or that it might harden again given enough time. I may even be facing an idler rebuild myself on a 1009. My method worked splendidly but now, two years later, and it could be slipping.

Re: Rubber Rejuvenator for 1229Q Idler
Thanks so much for insight into your experience.
I don't think I have a problem right now with any idlers, just trying to be proactive. Maybe I'll never have a problem in my lifetime (I'm 67).
Just being curious: How do you rebuild an idler???
Thanks!
