Newly Acquired Dual CS 1258

Post by Fleckbass » 18 Jul 2019 09:47

Hello,

I just picked up a Dual CS 1258. It was local and very clean. I am somewhat familiar with this model because I was a tech in the 90's. It needs a few things to make it useable.

First, the cantilever looks off center. Regardless, I want to replace the stylus anyway. The stylus is marked Sonus. There is a box for the cartridge labeled Sonus - Opus One Black. I did a search and only found some used items. Thinking I may have to replace the cartridge. What are my options? The 1/2" adaptor is in place now.

Next, I noticed the steuerpimple fell off and is unusable. I could use one. I also know a work around.

Belt seems ok. Not sure about speed being consistent. When I first turned it on it seemed ok. Then later, I had to adjust the pitch. I also notice that there appears to be some wow that was noticed by the strobe. Doesn't seem too bad. Maybe motor neededs lubed?

I remember doing clean and lube on many Duals. I checked this and the lube doesn't seem terrible but starting to get slightly sticky. The unit seems to cycle correctly except for the lack of the steuerpimple. I'm debating on using it as is or stripping down the mechanisms to clean and lube.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
