Welcome to the vinyl-engine, Connor! I love old clocks! I have one, A 1950's BigBen.

You and me would have a lot in common, Connor! I have actually been doing a lot of walking lately, when I have a few spare moments...It's a good time to de-stress and it helps me to focus on problems I need to solve...Sometimes, vinyl- and turntable-related problems...In any case, the meditation is good for the mind...I also enjoy buying old stuff, and have a few old clocks...At my local antique show some time back, I bought a nice GE Telechron for the wall and I have some smaller ones from Westclox and the like...Even a vintage Panasonic clock radio from the 60's...

That said, welcome to VE...It's a place us nerds can rejoice in our nerdiness!

Welcome to our little corner. As you've probably already figured out you are not alone. =D>

What do you like about Twin Peaks?

You might find some of this thread interesting too.:

Hello and thanks!

Walkmans? I had 'em but I can't say I remember any of them. On a slightly different note, I hate Apple (the company) but I love their iPod classic and it is still my portable media player of choice.

What do I like about Twin Peaks? Where do I start. I just love the whole feel of the show. There's something magical about it. The humour is amazing, the mysteries are amazing, the strangeness of it is amazing. It broke TV at the time and, to this day, no one has captured something similar.

The new series of Twin Peaks is very different and is amazing in its own right but was disappointing to a lot of people who simply want the old Twin Peaks back. I must admit that there was disappointment for me but it has nothing to do with the quality of the new series. In fact, the new series is also, in its own right, one of the most impressive things ever seen on TV.

I've got a collection of complete series of different shows that I like so that I can watch them again whenever I want to.

I think that Twin Peaks was ahead of it's time when it first aired since many shows like to be a self contained story with a resolution at the end of the episode, while it was a continuing story that required some commitment to following the story through many episodes.

I really do like mysteries and sci-fi too.

Are there any other shows you like?

Now, here are a couple of famous nerds...You may recognize actor Corbin Bernsen from his stint on the 80's drama, "L.A. Law", but did you know that (like me), he collects snowglobes...I have about 20-30 of them that I've picked up or that people have given me over the years...Corbin has about 8,000 of the little buggers...You can read more about his collection here...

He shows off his room in this video, featuring some other cool collections!

And then, there is Rod Stewart and his fabulous model train collection...You can see more of it here...

As Rod once said, "I pity a man who doesn’t have a hobby like this one...It’s just the most supreme relaxation...Every person should have one hobby that really captures his interest."

Mandy Patinkin, Neil Young and Michael Gross ("Family Ties") are also big train enthusiasts, as you can see here...

It has been said that the late Tom Snyder was also a toy railroad enthusiast, as well!

I didn't mention Johnny Depp's Barbie doll collection, but it's also wild!

Makes collecting records seem rather harmless, no? :-k

Finally, it has been said that the late John Lennon was also a philatelist...His own boyhood stamp collection was shown off last year in an exhibition...

Freddie Mercury was also a collector, and here are some videos that show off their collections...

Of course, if he knows EVERY single detail about every single doll and the whole history of Mattel, he might be considered a "nerd"...I think to be a nerdy collector, you have to be very obsessive about the details of your collection...True, it is more than just the collecting part...

O, Yeah, and a very large collection of Pixar movies on Blu-ray. Also, I know an alarming amount of Pixar trivia. 8-[
