Goodbye Needle Doctor?

Post by Boltman92124 » 24 Sep 2019 17:44

As seen over at Hoffman> Their website is still up though??

"After 40 years, The Needle Doctor is closing its doors, effective immediately. We are incredibly grateful for the support you've shown us, both locally in the Twin Cities and globally. What started as a tiny little shop on the University of Minnesota campus grew into a world-wide analog haven. The staff was never larger than 10 or so people, which should say all that needs to be said about the work ethic of those that wore the hat. Customer service was always the centerpiece; whether it was helping music lovers solve problems, helping seasoned vets take the next step with their system, or helping grandparents find a flip-over needle for their console stereo. Every day was an adventure. We hope that our love for analog and our friendly service set us apart from the rest. With that, one last thank you to everyone who's been a part of this journey. It's been a pleasure. The Needle Doctor is dead. Long live The Needle Doctor."

Absolutely the best customer service in the business. A real shame. Seems like there should be a hell of going out of business sale, if all true.

Sad to hear, may be their existing stock will go to a good home?
Someone like Gary from VoM could pick up a stock lot or two and offer again at attractive prices.

I just called The Needle Dr. They appear to still be open. Or am I wrong?

This could be a con. I recieved an email, not with their official heading, stating that I had over 2000 items in my shopping basket and what would I like to do about this. So I went to their site and the basket was empty.

Some one is playing games.

I can not seem to find the quoted thread at Hoffman. Could we get a link please? Is it possible that it was removed as a hoax?

Checked several online addresses for their site, including their farcebook page, and all open normally. Likely a hack of the hoffmann site by a spammer. At this point...too many of you reacting and believing "fake news" again. I guess a lot of people like gloom and doom scenarios, but until otherwise informed, it seems they are still in business as usual. :D

FWIW, I checked my account, the site comes in, my account is still there...I can contact them today...
I live in Minneapolis, right next door to St. Louis Park.

Yeah, looks like a scam. Couldn't find it today either. Funny thing is, even Steve Hoffman confirmed it was true when the thread was still there.

Well... crisis averted, I guess! It would've been a big loss to the community if it had been true. In the unlikely scenario that ND was preparing to go out of business, there are several people and companies that would almost certainly offer to buy the business and continue to run it under the Needle Doctor name, thanks to all the years of brand recognition, customer loyalty, and general good will ND has cultivated.

Glad to know that the news of their death is greatly exaggerated. ;)

Sorry I put the post up. It looked authentic. The OP at Hoffman was also titled "Needle Doctor". The post is deleted over there today.

I think we've all fallen for things like this at least once. It happens. :)

I was somewhat surprised at the 'news' when first reported.
Particularly with the resurgence of vinyl these days.
- those involved, making money with their NOS items being valuable once again.

Anyway, great to see Needle Doctor are still in business serving the audio community!
