Cheers Der,

I'm hoping to post pics as I build and work through the restoration.

I owned a Marantz TT-15S, and the design was essentially the same as the AR - XA built with different materials. The Marantz cost me a Grand-and-a-half ! That's about 13 hundred more than this baby:

That black and white shadow pic would make a great avatar.

When I look inside the the AR turntable, it reminds me, a while back, I drove an original Ford F-100 truck that belonged to my father-in-law. He first showed me under the hood... The engine block, carburetor, radiator, and a few connecting hoses and wires... that was the whole of it! I had to crank the windows down!

Here's mine. I recently changed my cartridge from a m97xe to a Hana SL. The sound improvement is considerable.

Nice table. Is that a Jelco arm. I have an AR XA that I fitted with a Jelco 370H. Love that Yamaha amp. I been looking at that model, I think it's $2,400. How do you like it and what are you driving with it?

Thanks,
der

It's indeed a Jelco arm, a sumiko mmt. The amp is Yamaha a-s1100 and I think it's fantastic. The built in phono stage is really great. It drives a pair of Tannoy autograph minis. I love these speakers and have had them for a long time which is very telling.
