RP8 with Ortofon Super OM30

Post by andybeau » 21 Jan 2020 19:03

Any RP8 owners out there using this cart and stylus?

Just swapped over from Apheta 2 (it had started to sound 'wrong' and had over 1000 hours on it) to OM30.
Easy to set up using Rega Stevenson alignment protractor v.2. I must say I'm impressed (this cart has about 50hrs on it)
I enjoyed it on my 1200GR attached to 40th Anniversary Concorde so no need for new cart for the 8.

No spacers under arm, not sure if I will bother as happy with sound.

Anyway back to listening, just thought I would share.

The Super/OM30 is probably my favourite Ortofon cartridge (in preference to the 40 or Bronze). Not tried one in my RP8 but worked well in my modded “3”.

I am using and enjoying MM/MI in my RP8/Audiomods S5. Not feeling the urge to go MC.

Well I'm not missing the MC and have always loved the look of the OM. More importantly I'm still enjoying listening to the music :D

I must admit my current cartridge is not really much of a “looker” but makes music in a beautiful way :)

Always been curious of the Nags and that one in particular. I keep an eye out for them on eBay every now and then.
Looks aren't everything

Just add a 20 or 200 stylus to the MP11 (or the 110) and you have a MP11-Boron but without the writing and colour.

Nagaoka advise the 200 as the replacement styl for the MP-11B
