Prototype Outboard motor mount.

Post by euromut » 11 Dec 2018 15:15

I have been working on refining this for a few month. I finally have a prototype of the final design.

The motor mount sits on sorbothane feet below your Rega Plinth. The motor press fits within the mount requiring no tape, glue, or screws. The height of the mount is designed so that it sits under your Rega with no modification to your feet. The ears on the mount, and the motor fit in the stock motor locations pocket. So long as your Turntable sits on a flat shelf, no sub plinth is needed. Mount is weighted with Steel BBs and sealed in epoxy, weighing 5.5oz without the feet.

These will be for sale. I would even love to have some one try my prototype. I need a guinea pig who's not as biased as I am. lol.

A chap called Michael Lim sells these. See lpturntables.blogspot. I am running the same principle using an airgun pellet case glued to the underside of the motor. The sound is way better than the rubber suspension on my old RP3 - esp with a new white belt.

Lim’s Mount is nice. But you need to lift up the whole turntable. Mine allows you to maintain feet that are stock height. Table still maintains its proportions.

I'm just getting round to thinking about replacing the o ring on my old AC motor Planar 2 and decided to look at the isolation options. I'll happily give it a shot, let me drop you a PM
