Elicit-R overheating??

Postby Omsk » 13 Jan 2018 02:39

Giday folks
I have a Rega Elicit-R amp and once it has warmed up it seems to cut out at higher vols. Yesterday turned it on, wound on some LP's for an hour and it cut out with the vol at midday. Left the amp on over night and put on some chunes this morning and nothing. Had to turn off the amp, let it cool for 5 then back on. Vol at 11:00 or so and it cut out again after few mins.

Anyone else had this issue? The amp is warm, not too hot to touch though. Shouldn't be doing this should it?

I thought that it may have been my speakers. Perhaps they are too hard to drive?? Dunno. They are Aaron ATS5's.

Any helps appreciated.

Sounds obvious, but anything stacked on top, or blocking the ventilation at the top of it?

Is your speakers wire connect correctly at the amp and at the speakers??
The positive and negative don’t touch ?? Even not much.

I think the speakers are connected properly. +ve / -ve don't touch and are connected with banana plugs.

There might be something wrong with the amp. I have had the volume on my Elicit-R at the 2 o’clock position all day playing music with no issues and only warm to the touch.
