Garrard SP20 stylus pressure adjustment

Post by pinbot » 14 Sep 2019 09:07

Hi everbody,

I got a Garrard Derby with a Garrard SP20 turntable. Lovely wooden console with tubes. How do I adjust the stylus pressure? The counterweight seems incomplete but I am not sure...

I don't know this one and after searching a bit in the library here, I can't find reference to this model but found this -

Have a look underneath the tonearm. The original Autoslim had a finger nut and screw-thread for adjust the tracking force spring. Something similar may be under the tonearm near the back, as the 'counterweight' won't allow the arm to be lifted very high. Good luck..

Yup- should be a screw under tonearm for that:

Exactly correct. As the adjustment is uncalibrated, s separate gauge is needed to measure tracking weight.
