Garrard 301 Rebuild

Post by Shelbygt » 15 Apr 2019 20:40

Trying to work up the courage to rebuild my oil bearing 301. Is there a rebuild or service manual out there? I understand the original came with a template to build your own plinth.

Any advice greatly appreciated. I’m pretty handy with mechanics and electronics but can’t say I’ve ever torn into a 301. Are any special tools required?

Not a restoration of a 301, but of a Australian broadcast idler drive a Commonwealth. The same principals apply so sent you the link

My advice is take lots of pics and attack each part one at a time.

Garrard never issued a rebuild manual for the 401-401. There are plenty of online sources that offer advice, though. Garrard did offer a sheet about converting a grease bearing to oil. It has mistakes and.oversiights in it.
