Main Cam Needed For Garrard SL95B

Post by bcr751 » 08 Mar 2019 19:52

Due to excessive wear on the boss that starts the return action on the tone arm system, I need to replace the main cam, Part # 72240 (Ref. #191 on parts list) on a Garrard SL95B. Where can I find one of these?

Another 95B. If you buy the part itself from one of the companies that specialize in parts, it will probably cost more than a whole donor table at a tag sale or on craigslist. But it's worth looking. Just google it.

Unless I'm wrong, the later cams from any of this family 'should' match. the trip mechanism was lightly revised over the years, so an early 95B may just be different from the later issue models, as the Zero 100 began a series of refinements here and *some* of these changes went into the sister decks I think.

Zero 100 trip mechanism needs modification to work in an SL95B, else there is an interference. The Delrin lower lever needs to be trimmed slightly. .Also a Delrin bushing is in the Z100 cam to accommodate the smaller diameter pivot shaft for its trip assembly. With all that done it is an upgrade over the SL95B trip.

SL95 and SL95B (and SL75/B, SL72B) are identical.
