My Sutherland phono pre is battery powered, no AC cable. Did you do similar upgrade on any other components and notice similar benefit or was it mainly beneficial for the pre?

With the preamp, it was like the musicians filed into the room. From there I went for the sub and while less dramatic, it was a substantial improvement. I would say skepticism is your best friend in auditioning cables, no matter what the price range or intended function. I no longer think cables are an afterthought but understand where those that think otherwise, our wire-is-wire friends, are coming from also. Some of the marketing IS out of control, even if you're talking high resolution systems.
