Can anyone recommend a suitable preamp please?

Postby Beanymeany » 20 May 2017 02:21

Hi all.
I would be grateful for any advice on an affordable preamp for my denon rcd n8 + bx2. I use it mainly for streaming Spotify and have been happy with it. I recently got an old planar 3 (running backwards on 33rpm £1.59 capacitor thanks maplin) but now need a preamp.
Just put a carbon in for now. Don't know if my system will benefit from a more accomplished preamp or is it only good enough for a basic one? Considering rega a2d . Seen great reviews for schiit mani but you can't get it anywhere. Any advice appreciated and apologies for waffling and if this post is misplaced. Thanks.

Hi James.
Thanks for the reply. The impression I get from the thread is that at my price point and with a basic cartridge differences will be minimal. I doubt I'll be getting a mc cartridge so I will probably stick with the rega .
Cheers.

I've used Pro-jects basic pre and it's good but this beats it and quite a lot of others. It plays way above it's pay grade.

You can get the Art DJ Pre from a lot of outlets not just the one in the link

I just moved up from the ART DJ pre to the Cambridge 651P and there was not a huge difference in sound quality , so the ART is a real deal .
