Hello everyone. I have bought my first table recently. It's a Technics Sl-D2. It came with a Shure cartridge marked, Mark5. I cant see any other model number written on it anywhere. Google comes up with little information on it. I need to replace the needle as it is bent. Im going to post a few pictures and hopefully someone can tell me what the hell I'm doing

Hi, what you want is the 770 Dec stylus by EVG. I have three of these model 25 cartridges but mine have different numbers. But the EVG 770 Dec worked well. The only thing about these aftermarket styli is that the tip guard does not like to stay up. So on the ones I have I just removed them before I installed the stylus and balanced the tonearm. It's a very warm neutral sounding cartridge. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, it helped a lot. For that price, shipped to Canada it will be upwards of $150. Seeing how the cartridge is over 30 years old does it make sense to just spend $100 on a whole new cartridge?

Hi, IMO that model 25 is not worth spending that kind of money on. Go on ebay and check with a vendor named needledaddy1. I've bought aftermarket styli from him for this cartridge for $30.00 with free shipping. Or like you said just pick up something new in the price range you can afford. You can check Audio Technica, Ortofon,Shure for new carts under $100.00. And there are many more brands available.

It might be possible to get a Shure M75ED Type 2 stylus (or a good generic of same) locally at a lower price. That's what the cartridge is under the fancy cosmetics.

Hi, check out this stylus it's the same one I ordered from this guy Ebay number 350957190311. If you scroll down on the listing you will see the compatible cartridges for this stylus. And the model 25 is listed.

Not in appearance, no. The Pfanstiehl index for the M75ED is 760-DED.
