Hi! :byebye: Grado snob here.

Green
ME+ Mono
Platinum Statement 1

Next one will be up one notch to the Sonata Statement 2 or if I am feeling adventurous, the Master Statement 2.

I also have a B&O Beogram TX2 turntable with a Soundsmith MMC3 cart. But the table has an issue that when the linear tracking arm gets near the center of a record, there is a clunking sound.

A few weeks ago I updated my handy fridge list: more than 22 cartridges. I'm too lazy today to detail my list but I can give you the brands:

Audio Technica (AT440MLa; AT110, AT120, AT130, AT962XE)
Stanton
Shure (including the beautiful M97)
Ortofon (F15, FF15XE, N120)
ADC (Integra, XLM, others)

Cheers from Westlake, Ohio.

Audio Technica AT95
Audio Technica DS5
Audio Technica ATN3100XE
Audioquest 505
Azden YM P20e
Denon DL303
Dual DMS-245
Nagaoka JT555
Ortofon MC15 Super mk2 (2012 production)
Ortofon MC10 Supreme

Stanton 500
Supex SD-901E
Technics EPC207C
Technics EPC205 CIIX (EPS-205EX stylus w. Ti cantilever)

I like discovering cartridges from different era, curious about their sound properties, construction and materials affecting sound. Experimenting with headshells, preamps etc is part of the fun too. Ortofon MC15 Super mk2 is my favourite.

Not including 10+ Ortofons and 5 or so AT92ECDs I keep in stock for mounting on turntables and vending to the vinyl loving masses...

1. Shure M97xE
2. Shure/Realistic RXT6 (Jico SAS in this one)
3. 2 Shure M91ED (Hi-Track Styli, too)
4. Ortofon MC-1 turbo
5. Ortofon 2M Red/Blue
6. Shure M44G
7. Stanton 681EEE (Sadly without the Stereohedonism stylus)
8. AT15SS (Nude Shibata on a Be cantilever)
9. Micro Seiki something or other
10. 10 or 15 different Assorted Audio-Technicas that came in with broken styli (AT11XE, AT3600, AT????)
11. Something unidentifiable that came off a Dual
12. Some Technics EPCs
13. Some assorted Stanton and Pickering P Mounts
14. Grado Prestige Black
15. AT120Eb

Probably some others I am forgetting about.
The RXT6 with a N97 JICO SAS is my daily driver right now. It's on a Technics SL-M2, plugged into a Kenwood KR-9940. The high inductance of the Shure helps mellow out the 100k ohm input impedance of the 9940 without tweaking the treble knob down. I tried a Super OM 10 on a table plugged into the 9940 and it about blew my head off, till I killed the treble.

I now have three, after saying in a previous post that I have one, and swearing that I have no intention of getting any more, and that anyone who has a lot is stupid .....apologies for that!! To be fair on myself, I decided to get a second cart when I became convinced I couldn't get a replacement stylus for my Grace cart. Then an Ebay bargain popped up, a new Grace RS8c stylus, plus Grace F8 cart with original stylus in excellent condition. I had to buy that lot to get the RS8c for my cart. So now I find myself with three carts, and I must admit, I'm a bit excited  ! So they are 1: Grace F8c(my original), 2: Grace F8, and 3: Shure M97xe(getting an Ed Saunders Hyper-elliptical for Shure V15xMR, to upgrade the M97xe). I do see the merits of having different sounding carts for different purposes/music types, and also to save on stylus wear/degradation. I won't swear that I will never get more, but I think I'll be happy for awhile......

My cartridge collection came from a crap load of broken turntables I have bought, fixed, and sold with new cartridges I can get OEM styli for. The various Ortofons are a result of experimentation and using them on the house SL-1200 at the shop. I won't sell a cartridge I haven't personally tried, and what better way to try them out than abuse them in a record store!
I sell Ortofon at the shop because they were the only manufacturer I could go direct with and not have to open up with an $8k order <coughs Shure>. I also helps they make a damn good cartridge, to boot!

It just sucks Ortofon doesn't make a T4P any more, and has no plans to make one any time soon, according to their US Sales Manager.

Technics SL-15 direct Drive TT with Boron canti carts EPC 205 MK3, EPC 310

---------------

another setup, Mitchell Gyrodec and SME V:

Denon 103

Sumiko Blue Point Special (made Special with very sharp cutting tools)

Shure V15 MR

Audio Techics OC-9

Benz Micro Ace Red

Guys, should I aim for Benz Micro Glider, or is Benz Ace as good? What would be a substantial, noticablee next step up from Benz Ace? Is there a point to look into exotic carts? I feel Technics SL-15 Direct Drive TT with EPC-205 MK3 is not far behind Gyrodec with SME V and Benz Micro Ace Red. In fact, I feel AT OC9 is one of the top carts for any money.
What do you think, please?
Is there a reason to get into Transfiguration and such territory, please?

Greetings from Estlands :)
