MC cart wear/rebuild

Post by omc » 26 Jan 2006 23:14

I have a late 80's sondek with a rewired RB300 and linn karma MC cart. I think that the cart is getting on the worn side. is there any way to tell if the cart is worn without a microscope. also has any one had experience with van den hul rebuilds?

Hello omc
Were from the same neck of the woods! You may already know about Sound Hounds here, there big Linn folk and deal in alot of Linn, Rega and Audio Note equipment. They have a microscope and would happily take a look for you. I've dealt with them for years, there good people and very knowledgable

hi padego. nice to hear from some one in the neighborhood who isn't listening to a surround system with mp3s. i'm also a regular at the hounds. i am going to just have to bite the bullet and replace the cartridge. noticed from another thread that you just did this yourself. i'm also looking toward micro benz, but not quite as high end as you went (an ace L or glide L).

You wont be dissapointed omc, I started with the benz silver and found it opened the sound stage dramatically over the the audio note mm I was using before. I think you'll find the glider a better choice, it seems to have had rave reviews...
