Hi,

FWIW generic replacements are always a bad idea. A DL110 will be near
as good as it gets but not particularly cost effective. I'd try the Red Ed
elliptical, if its not good enough get the Denon and a quality headshell.

This seems worth the investment :

You will then have an easy spare to be used for when the Denon is at risk.

I was able to find an original Pickering NOS 1DTL stylus, so I ordered that rather than a generic. I'll see how refreshing the stylus works and report back. Thanks for all of the feedback. I really had no clue what to do regarding cartridge and/or needle and it's quite confusing with all the various model names in Pickering's lineup, so I really appreciate the feedback.

Regards,
Peter

I've installed the new stylus and it sounds considerably better than before. It is essentially the same design (as close as I could find), so I guess the old one was fairly worn. Now, of course, I'm wondering how much improvement I'd get with a DL110 or trying to see if an XV 15 625 stylus will fit, but for now I'm quite happy with the results from replacing the needle. 100x close-ups of the old and new are below
