help with AT gold OCC cartridge

Hi All,

Picked up a really pretty VPI HW-19 today with what I think is an AudioQuest tonearm. This all gold AT cartridge was on the arm. All it says is OCC on the front. I know there are various cartridges that have OCC in the name. Can anyone tell me which one this is? For bonus points any thoughts on a good stylus?

Thanks!
John

If you take it off the model will be written on the top. The ceramic suggests that is an ATML1x0 series. Very very nice cartridge, not sure where you can find a stylus for it any more.

I think you were deceived )).
Do you have the AT ML-150 with the ATN-ml140 stylus ?!

Maybe I'm wrong, but on 140 there is no OСС inscription ??

No, it's original but with replaced cantilever (from new ATN440MLA replacement stylus). You're correct, there is no OCC inscription on an ATN-ml140 stylus. On the other versions of AT-ML1x0/OCC cartridges, there were versions with and without OCC inscriptions on the stylus body.

I believe that the first generation of the AT-ML1x0 series was introduced in 1985 with LC-OFC bodies and that a second generation came in 1986 and 1987 with OCC bodies.

Thanks all. Looks like the lack of availability of replacement styli is a real problem. Is there anything from the more current AT product line that is backwards compatible?

Nope, with AT-ML1xx everything is smaller, body, cantilever, magnets....

IMHO the best available spare part is the ATN-E50: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Original-Audio- ... 3209031992

The ATN-E50 comes with a cantilever with correct dimensions and could be used for a cantilever transplant.

Yes, but there are also other possibilities among the ATN replacement styli, the problem is, as I understand, OP doesn't have the original stylus holder...

Could you please enlighten us about those possibilities :)?

Correct. I do not have anything to transplant into.
