Dead Dynavector P75

Post by bhjazz » 25 Jan 2020 04:19

I'm staring at my stone cold P75 Mk3 that somehow died in the middle of a record recently. It is over 2 years old, and my dealer checked in with DV to no avail. I removed the board assembly from the case with the idea of troubleshooting it, but the multi-layer boards shut that down pretty quickly. There is no way to actually follow traces, and there are no obvious visual issues to see. When it died a very strong 120Hz noise showed up and since it is in both channels, I'm certain it is the power supply. I swapped wall warts to no avail. I disconnected it from all phono and other gear and the noise persists. I'm hoping it didn't take out my Delos.

If anyone has heard of this and has an idea about a fix, I'm all ears. Otherwise,
I was planning an upgrade, just not now!

Thanks!

bh

Checked the Delos with a headphone amp (suboptimal) - it is fine and unharmed, thankfully.

Dynavector don't offer a repair service for their products?

Seems to me pretty poor if that is the case, for a product ~2 years old !

Thanks Collux! I get the feeling that my dealer contact only asked Dynavector about warranty repair, and not an actual repair. I will definitely follow up with the folks on this list.

The last time I tried the Japanese version, it was routed to my country distributor. No worries.
I also checked my receipts and found out the unit is actually 3 years old...which shouldn't matter.

Email dispatched to US distributor today. Thanks again!

Collux,

I got a great response from Mike Pranka, the US distributor. He has offered to take a look at it, and mentioned that issues with the P-75 are pretty rare. I'm blown away. Good call, mate. Thanks.
