2M bronze/black vs Quintet Bronze/Black vs Cadenza Red.

Post by _tedd » 10 Dec 2019 05:50

Hi guys,

These are the carts available locally to me that are within my price range. I run a Thorens TD125 mkII with a Project 9cc arm into a Project Tube Box DS2. I listen to older rock stuff like Fleetwood Mac through to death metal. Occasional jazz, classical or acoustic but they are not my priority. Would one of these carts be the obvious choice? My digital chain is a Chord Qutest and I'd like the analog to have a much different flavor to the incisiveness of that DAC.

Thanks!

Bump. Mostly interested in if the Cadenza Red is worth it over the Quintet Black.

I have a Cadenza Red but got it cheap as it had been opened but not used. I bought unheard but have other Ortofon carts (OM and 2M).

I have a myriad of other good carts (Nagaoka, Denon, AT, Goldring/Roksan) but the Cadenza is a great sounding cart on my LP12 and Audiomods arm. It can party and does subtle well. I don't have any tracking issues with it either.

I did consider the Quintet but the price of the Cadenza was too good to pass up! 😀
