Told you about this one... if I remember correctly... :D

Also still in its native form, and sounds quite phenomenal... same sonic signature as the 205 with a tad more detail on the extreme ends of the frequencies...

engineering takes second place to bling...
No danger of that, with these three piccies of early - and very plastic! - Shure items, as found in back of chest of drawers. These are destined to go onto a recent purchase, a Thorens TP14 on a TD135 mk2 - It'd be great if the (rather ugly looking) original headshells weren't so expensive - it's easy with SME arms, 'cos third-party headshells are plentiful. I don't know if such headshells that fit the Thorens socket are so easy to get... temptingly, an SME 'shell fits into the socket on Thorens arms, but uses much shorter contacts, so won't actually do the job - any comments, anyone?

PS - I've just measured the diameter of an SME headshell shaft, as well as that of the Thorens pictured in the previous post... they're the same. Coincidence? Almost certainly not. Was there some informal standard, back in the day when removable headshells were more common?

A Shure M91E, original version with a fresh EVG stylus assembly mounted. Tonearm is the Thorens TP14.

What's interesting (to me) about the M91E is its steel clip that holds it in place by clamping tightly. There are two grab points that the clip must hook onto or it might still clamp the cartridge firmly, but with incorrect alignment geometry.

Headshell is the Thorens TP50 which was used on the TP14, TP25 and TP13 tonearms.

The easiest option is to replace the jack on the arm under the standard shell, and sell your shell. :)
All other options will lead you to suffering and loss of contact.

Now there's a thought!
Post Script: Ain't it great that we have folks from Russia, the US and everyone else, including my good self from little GB, of course, happily chatting about one of our favourite subjects and sharing great photos! A good example I hope is followed by many others! :D
