Today I upgraded the cartridge for our forum member.
Above the body of his cartridge, someone mocked slightly, for which I did not understand. Now, “103” has found a new image for itself, of course, not without my help and kindly betrayed components from the "VSN" company from St. Petersburg.
This one is within my grasp, sat at the post office waiting for me to collect it on Friday morning!
It's fine ! ))
I hope you have installed a cartridge on your player?
Does it harmonize with your interior? ))

Very interesting, I received two messages about an unsuccessful attempt to deliver the parcel, but there is still no message about its receipt.
Still to be collected Dmitry, I am not back home until Friday when i can go and retrieve it! I'll let you know how I get on.

It's light, well damped and looks nice.

Bone does have good attenuation. But this is not enough for a good damping of the cartridge. In this instance, all voids are filled with isoprene rubber.
Recently, I have been tempted to compare two cartridges of Sony XL-55II and XL-55Pro. 55Pro was filled with rubber and foam rubber. My preferences were otdany Sony XL-55Pro.

I have it in my hands! Now to:

1. Swap the armboard over on the LP12.
2. Put the Jelco arm on.
3. Set the turntable up - I've never done it before!
4. Mount the DmitriyL103R!
5. Set VTF/VTA etc etc
6. Play and enjoy.

This may not be happening until Sunday at the earliest. :(

Three well used carts. The question I've always had is: Which stylus 'cut' is the more efficient for 'reading' the grooves of a vinyl recording. I've read the available 'literature' out there, and I cannot get past the 'vagueness' of the descriptions and
results.. I've tested various styli, and to my taste, the reproduction of the 'finer cuts' Shibata, Gyger, SAS seem to give the most faithful reproduction of sound, as I can tell; elliptical, spherical, the fuzziest and least palatable....

1. Spherical
2. Elliptical
3. Shibata
4. Hyper elliptical
5. SAS (Special micro ridge type)

I think that the main advantage of “thick” sharpening is its good keeping of the rhythm of the melody, without any distraction.
But in your supply you need to have all kinds of sharpening, because there is music with the absence of a melody ))

Today, something special.

Here we have the very first audio-technica AT-33 cartridge:

After a neccessary small surgery, it plays as good as new... .
It arrived with a manhandled cantilever, but fortunately, the audio-technica design makes it very easy to replace.

mmm.. "absence of melody" :-k that's interesting...

I have six tables set up with various cartridges, and have played the same album in the various tables, alternating, to hear the difference. I've also swapped the various styli on different tables, to rule out other elements native to each table... Nothing really scientific, just sound to my ear; regardless of the table, the "thicker" sharpening seems to lose out (to my ear of course...) I suppose, in the end, it depends on personal preference and on how 'deep your pockets are' since the fancier styli tend to cost an-arm, a-leg, and a first-born!
