That bottom dollar CF3600 is a surprisingly pleasing cartridge. Well worth trying since even if you decide to do better, having a spare cartridge around is a handy thing.

With the elliptical stylus, I like it more than the AT95 series.

With the Audio Technica VM95 series, you can start with a VM95C Conical for ~$35.
(or as suggested by Boltman, the Elliptical.)
- and then upgrade later to any of following:
Elliptical nude, MicroLinear, or Shibata.

AT91/3600L or the upgraded CF version suggested by the guys.
Impossible to beat them value-wise.

The AT-VM95C or E are great choices as well.
Tonally they differ a bit from the AT91/3600L.
A bit less bright and less bold. More laidback if you will.
Nuances and detail is slightly improved on the E while C sounds a bit fuller.

refer:
https://www.vinylengine.com/turntable_f ... 9&t=101071

FYI there are 2 AT450s:
AT450 of the AT3472 family
(0.3 x 0.7 mil Nude BiRadial)
AT450E(/OCC) of the AT120 family
(0.4 x 0.7 mil Elliptical)

Details for both, are found here: https://www.vinylengine.com/library/aud ... t450.shtml

The AT450 was available on ebay initially for $32.
-I purchased mine for a little more.

At the current ebay price of $65, is it a wise choice?

When current new AT VM95 series carts are:
VM95C Conical <$50
VM95C Elliptical ~$50
VM95EN nude Elliptical ~$120

AND the VM95 series are all "upgradeable" by styli type:
from Conical/Elliptical/nude Elliptical/MicroLine&Shibata

The AT VM500 series are going to have better performance than the 95 series. Better channel separation, channel balance etc...They are more revealing but perhaps a little more tipped up in the treble region than the 95's. I haven't heard the VM95en nude elliptical. That might be the sweet spot for many at $120 as the VM530en is around $170. And of course the VM540ml has already become very popular. That will be my next cart instead of replacing my worn out Denon 103. The AT nude ellipticals like my 120eb sound awesome too.

The AT450 is the best deal I'm aware of today.
I bought a couple of them.
Nude stylus makes a significant difference.
You can't find another nude stylus for anywhere close to the price.
The AT450 is comparable to an AT120E and superior to the AT95 or VM95.

As I have an AT450 -I am somewhat interested in styli replacements.
This is what I have discovered so far:
ATN-3472SE, CFNT4PSE, ATN120E, ATN130E, AT3472

With some higher end options here:

Don't mix up the two versions of AT450.
The p-mount (called "universal" in the ad because it comes with an adapter) version is the one under discussion.
It is compatible with the ATN3472 type needles.

The ATN120E, ATN130E, etc, are for the 1/2" mount AT450 body. Those needles will NOT work on the p-mount AT450 for sale on ebay by wolfsbigbadgarage,

Hi Sunwire,
Very good information regarding the P-mount styli replacements.
The issue is the stylus T4P compliance with P-mounts?

re the following:
https://www.lpgear.com/product/LPGATN3472HE.html
https://www.lpgear.com/product/ATSAT0450EOCC.html

I am suspecting the 2 LPGear offerings are unfortunately not suitable...........
