Found this cartridge. Don't know the manufacturer and which stylus fits in there.
Hello and welcome to vinylengine.

There are a few offers from Brazil for a replacement stylus (it is called FM-210).

After a bit of research, I found two styli, that are more common:

Aiwa AN30
Sharp STY 137

Well, I don't know what happened to the link - yesterday it was working. There were some nice pictures of a Polyvox cartridge, for a comparison... . :(

So, here is a second try (there was also an identical cartridge from the brand CCE):

IMHO, it would be great when asking what is a cartridge to give (one possible) an opinion about the sound. There are unknow vintage cartridges which could be better, others which are worth searching for. Guess this would help all of us, including those who are looking for a decent cart at low price : not all of us have the pocket full of money (wish it was the case). This is only a suggestion, those who disagree with it don't, hesitate to let us know, we all learn from neg feedbacks.

themisto462, Thank you very much for your information. That really helped me. Now it is easier to find a similar cartridge. I wonder what it sounds like.

This came on my Hitachi turntable. I know it is a Shure Omni Performance and Sound series. I originally thought the PS was a 25. Was this a special brand to go with some turntables, I would like to learn more about it.

Hey all!

I hope someone recognizes this cartridge?
It was on a Pioneer PL-31D that I bought, with a broken needle. But I understand that the shell and cartridge are not original. But I'm curious to get a new stylus, to try it out. I have tested googling for what is on the stylus, but no good hits

Hello and welcome to the forum.

The brand is a mystery to me, from the signs maybe "alpha note"...? :-k

But, from its look, it seems to be an OEM Nagatron cartridge. Probably a rebranded Nagatron 200 series cartridge (200S,220E, 220CE) or a Jeweltone JT-110/120. Judged from the color of the needle, it could be the Nagatron 200S.

Some information about the Nagatrons:

https://www.vinylengine.com/library/nagatron/200s.shtml

There seem to be a few genuine replacement needles available (thakker.eu has two for the Jeweltone, for example), but the prices are a bit astronomic, if you ask me.

Regards.

Hi themisto462 and thank you so much! :D

Nice when someone has an answer, I thought this was something to forget.

I think you're right! If I compare them to the Nagatron 200S then it looks the same
Stylus I found on ebay for $ 80 plus shipping

And the shell is probably a Jeweltone / Nagaoka

Thakker is nice place, I have ordered "Riemen" and stylus from them.
Last order I received last Friday

Now I will try to find some reviews that people have written, then I have to make a decision if I should put some money on it.

Have you tried anyone Nagatron?

Thanks again you are a hero
Vielen Dank themisto462

This is currently on the Technics SL-3200 that I picked up recently. It's the original headshell I believe. I'm not sure which Audio Technica cartridge this is, and what stylus/cartridge to replace it with. I'd like to get something decent, less than $100 if possible. Do I need to replace the cartridge, or just the stylus? Forgive, I am just getting back into vinyl after a 30-year hiatus.

The stylus is bent, hard to see from the pictures.

Why don't you remove the screws, and then you'd see the cartridge model number on the top of it.

You'll have plenty of different answers.

Decent, affordable (less than $100), upgradable : Audio-Technica VM95EN (based on the French prices which a rather high due to VAT).

From the color of the stylus, it should be an audio-technica AT11E (the replacement stylus is called ATS11E).

But, I think, the more important question than "What cartridge is this?" is "What stylus would fit?".

Your cartridge can handle a lot of replacement styli. From a rather simple conical ATS10, over a more advanced elliptical ATN12XE till to the ATS12S and ATN12S Shibata styli.

My recommendation - if you decide to keep the cartridge - would be a genuine ATN12XE. With that stylus, the cartridge is approximately comparable to an audio-technica AT120E/Eb or the current VM530EN.

Regards.

Thanks, I just got home and took it apart. It’s an AT11E. I’ll take your advice and let you know how it goes. Thanks!
