There are many AT cartridges (older and younger) that could carry the ATN440MLb stylus.
Here are some examples for the standard ½" mount:
  • AT100E
  • AT120E
  • AT120E/II
  • AT120Ea
  • AT120Eb
  • AT120E/T
  • AT120ZE
  • AT125LC
  • AT130E
  • AT135E
  • AT140E
  • AT140LC
  • AT140ML
  • AT150ANV
  • AT150E
  • AT150Ea
  • AT150MLX
  • AT150Ti
  • AT150Z
  • AT155LC
  • AT160ML
  • AT440ML/OCC
  • AT440MLa
  • AT450E/OCC
  • AT5V
  • AT7V
  • AT9V
  • AT-DS3
  • AT-DS5
  • AT-DS7
  • AT-G5
  • ATP-4
  • ATP-5
  • ATP-6
...I think that should be all (additions or corrections are welcome).

The ATN440MLB apparently is a "208-" style stylus ("4208-" in aftermarket-speak). It seems compatible with everything from AT100 through AT155.

Check...

https://www.turntableneedles.com/search.asp?keyword=208

...and...

http://thevoiceofmusic.com/catalog/part_detail.asp

... and search for "208" in the "Pfanstiehl® Part Number" entry point to make sure we agree.

Nice list :D

For completeness I think you can add:

AT103
AT130Ea
AT140Ea
AT150Sa
AT430E

Plus the Signet AM and MR models and some of the TKs.

Incorrect info,I'm afraid. tk3ea, tk5ea tk7ea is the new at120 type body. The tk5 etc without ea at the end is the old at12e type body and will not fit 440ml.

There were also two different cartridges named AT100.
The newer one with the rectangular hole in the body can accept the AT440MLb.
The older one with the round hole in the body is similar to the AT10, AT12, etc. and to the Signet TK1, TK3, TK5, etc.

Thanks guys.

I love my AT440MLb but I feel it could benefit from a better cartridge. The amount of infromation the stylus extracts from the groove is staggering but sometimes I feel the sound lacks a bit of coherence.

As the stylus is still in great shape I was thinking about fitting the stylus to a better body.

I could get AT150e body for about 100$ from ebay but I am not sure if it's worth it.

Any other cartridges I should be looking for to possibly improve the sound?

The 150 body is quite a lot heavier. Too heavy IMO for many arms and the compliance of the 440. I have both bodies but not had time to do a proper comparison. What arm are you using?

Connoisseur BD2 and SAU2-arm. It's a low mass arm.

Ah good. You should be ok with that. If you were closer I'd lend you a 150 body to try out.

Thanks chiz.

The AT430E/OCC is the one that I always forget  ...

But I didn't add the AT103, because - as far as I know - it is not a ½" mounted cartridge and it wasn't available separately. To my knowledge, the AT103 was only the cartridge generator integrated in the headshell of the AT Mister Disc / Sound Burger.

The 440 stylus also works beautifully with AT's 100-series P-mount cartridges, such as:

• AT102P
• AT102EP
• AT112EP
• AT122LP
• AT122EP
• AT132EP
• AT152LP
• AT152MLP
• AT422EP/OCC
• AT432EP/OCC
• PM9000
• SS315E/U
• SS335E/U
• SS445E/U
• SS550LC/U
• Realistic RX1500

AT150e body doesn't make a difference electrically. It is just heavier.
AT150mlx body and AT150ea body however, have a lower inductance.
