AT100e Replacement Stylus

Post by stuartm » 10 Feb 2018 16:55

As AT have discontinued the AT100e are there any genuine current AT Stylii that will fit my AT100e body?

Hello Stuart,

for the AT100E body, there are a lot of suitable options. Here is an overview about the current replacement styli:
Here is an offer for the ATN-100E: Original ATN100E

Another possible stylus would be the ATN103, which is very close to the ATN100E specs.

But you can also take the chance and upgrade your cartridge with one of the "older" styli like the ATN120E, ATN120Eb or ATN440MLb for example. They still can be found at some online shops for an acceptable price.

Best regards,
Flo

Sorry, Stu, didn't see your request in time - 'cause I would have suggested you to consider the SS445E/U from Ebay vendor "wolfsbigbadgarage", as that would have bought you a renamed AT122EP and hence basically the T4P/P-mount variant of the ATN120E plus a spare T4P body and accessories, all for ca. US$ 36.

Greetings from Munich!

Thanks anyway Manfred. In fact ,with postage and taxes to the UK added to the price of the item it was just as expensive as the ATN100 stylus from Germany!

Kind regards

James: Btw, I've noticed two little bugs in the list: The ATN140E should have a beryllium cantilever (straigt rod, non-coated), and so should the ATN150E - while the one with the tapered, gold-plated Be cantilever would be the ATN150Ea. And the "ATN150MLx" should have an X instead of the x. :) Small x-es are Shure-style, and we surely wouldn't like our ATs to be Shures, would we? ;)

hi manfred
thanks for your information. i bought the SS445E. the styli of SS445E and 120e can interchange indeed. Now I have the old 120e .4x.7 stylus on SS445E body and ATN122EP stylus on a AT440 body. 122EP's plastic is thinner than 120e and can fit into the body very easily. I needed to use some alignment to fit the 120e to SS445E body but it was a perfect fit eventually. I mounted SS445E with 1/2 inch adapter on technics sl1500. It sounded not bad at all, even better for some rock and roll in terms of midrange than my at440mlb. the VTA need to be adjusted with some thinner mat due to the height of the cartridge plus adapter. I am interested in the specs of the SS445E body and whether it affect the sound characteristics of 120e comparing an original at1x0 body.

So what you're saying is, if I ordered one of these, I'd have a fitting stylus upgrade to pop on my 100E and a t4p body left over?

mri: Yes and no - because it's rather a case of "would have" now, as the SS445E/Us from that vendor were sold out ca. 3 months ago. Sorry - but good offers in the meantime tend to sell out pretty quickly, as there aren't so many anymore...
