Cartridge upgrade confusion

Post by igiu83 » 15 Jan 2020 11:36

Good morning to all!!
My name is Andrea, and finally, after a lot of time, i'm entered in this marvelous world of vinyl!!
I've bought a Nordmende RP 1010 TT that come with a P24 cartridge and with his stylus ( i think from Thakker). No problem at all, good sound (at least for my ears) connected to a pair of Edifier r1280 through a phono preamp.
Now, my question is: is it worth to upgrade the cartridge to something else? Maybe an AT3600L, or a VM95E? As you can see, the budget is quite tight.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Andrea

Maybe a new stylus would suffice?

Then again an AT3600L can be sourced for less money.

Thank you for your reply!
How would compare to this P24 cartridge an AT3600L? Anyone has some experience on this?

At less than 13€ the AT3600L from China on ebay, you should give it a try. That will not make a big hole in your wallet.
Many people here think its quality has nothing to do with its ridiculous low price.
Just to know, your TT is not in the library, is it a direct drive or belt drive ?
