Does an SL-1200 Phono Board fit SL-1700?

Postby subwiz » 15 Feb 2017 17:49

Hi,

The tracks on my SL-1700 phono board are in bad shape and have come away from the board. I've not been able to locate a replacement board (part number SFDP170-03) but have located one for sale on Ebay for an SL-1200.

Admittedly it looks a little different, but I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem and how they fixed it?

Looks like they have one for the 1700 at organdonorparts:

Thank you for the link, the board in the image looks a bit different that the factory made part, so fingers crossed it will fit.

Correct me if I'm wrong but my turntable is an SL-1710 which I think is the same as an SL-1700 it was just renamed as an SL-1710 for the European market.

I just emailed the company you provided the link for, thanks again! :)

The parts sold at Organdonorparts should come from actual parted out turntables. Of course there might have been production alterations over the years.

It's kind of hard to make out the part # from the picture, you might want to contact them to verify it's the same part.

SL-1710 in general means it's a black/brown version of the regular silver one. But in some territories it has the same colour, and the difference lies in the unit having a voltage selector. Is yours brown or silver?

I have an SL-1700 that will never run again. I can't speak to the condition of the phono board, nor am I sure how to access it because I have completely broken down this table, but I might be able to have a look and get a photo if you can't find the part.

Hi Terry,

Its a small board that is attached to the top part of the turntable case.

I've attached an image of a board that looks very similar to the one I have, in fact the part number on mine is SFDP170-03

Fingers are crossed, looking forward to your reply.

Thanks :)

Any chance of a picture form the other side? I've never opened the base on mine, I just unscrew the feet and the braces which hold the cables in place and lift off the top part of the case (presuming the patter is already removed) :)

Mine is screwed into the top part of the casing. Thanks.

Is it under the platter or under the tonearm mount perhaps?

I don't see anything similar. A picture of it's location might help.

Your 1710 looks different than my 1700. The area under the platter of the 1700 is solid. If this piece resides near the tonearm, and/or is attached to the tonearm, I suspect mine is gone. This table came partially disassembled from my brother and not all the parts are here. I've looked for the tonearm and tonearm base and haven't managed to find it.

There is a metal cover under the platter that I removed to get to the phono board, which is actually screwed into the top part of the chassis. Thanks for taking time to look, much appreciated.
