Absolutely correct. Record head needs wide gap, and playback had needs narrow gap, for optimum performance.

Guys, it was a joke and a play on words. I'm well aware of what three-headed cassette decks are all about.

I also know about the benefits of a three-head over a two-head deck.
I just had to laugh because it was "two-headed-woman next to the three-headed-deck" - as if a three-headed deck had three human heads, understand?

Also BMRR put a " " behind his comment to show that he was just joking, so i thought it was obvious that its not about putting down three-headed decks.

Now that cassettes are seeing a resurgence, will the folks behind the Levitating Turntable come out with a Levitating Cassette Deck? Will the cassette float in space, suspended by magnetic levitation that conveniently erases the tape for you after every play? Will early backers on Kickstarter get free mix tapes? Stay tuned!

very interesting....but levitating records are invented very early....if a Lp or single records are bad...just after some time they start to levitate...and fly around too...

There are still people out there trying to screw up cassette player design. I think this idea died due to conceptual flaws that should have been obvious. Maybe in this day of digital audio, people have forgotten what Wow and Flutter are.

...just a little.
...pay special attention to all these being bluetooth-connected. No more inconvenient cables ahhhhh, what a relief... but you need power to levitate the speaker, power for bluetooth, the speaker needs a battery which has to be charged... its so ecological...
...and finally the sound quality. For decades people thought a speaker driver should be as stable as possible, now they prove us wrong!

These speakers are marketed as gimmicks and for effect, not some magical sound quality

These actual are levitating speakers, i havn´t followed it but they should be around for about one or two years now - i think someone allready posted a picture when the maglev-kickstarter was on.

I´m not sure if they are just marketed as a gimmick, have a look at the description here:

https://www.amazon.in/Levitating-Blueto ... B072DRGF5H

"great sound - due to the fact that the speaker does not touch the ground, it does not lose sound through vibration this results in a cleaner sound"

From a technical point of view they are a total mess. They just cannot sound as good as a stationary speaker but consume more power due to levitation and bluetooth (and leds i guess).

False advertising as the magnetic field still couples forces from the speaker to the support, otherwise the speaker would start bobbing forward and back with bass.
As there will be more movement than a conventional speaker, you get extra doppler distortion for free
