Thanks for letting me know what SME I've got. By lift, I mean the tonearm lift lever that raises and lowers the tonearm on the record. As received using it would collide when lifting the record up during play. It would collide/interfere with what the SME manual calls the "rider weight" (see below)

Your screen shot schemes are that of the rider weight of a SME 3009 'Improved' that is fixed onto the resin "spider" into which the counterweight is screwed in.
The SME 3009 pre-improved has a wand/tube stub onto which the counter weight is slided and the rider weights is fixed into it's rear end.
But indeed, you can un-tight the lift dash-pot assembly to turn it some. Now your rider weight seem to be "low" when it's best set horizontal or close.
Still it needs to be set properly for an even or close (again) in balance rest of the knife edge bearings horizontally that I adjust by the feel
of it tangling or not.
With no "fancy" dials on those SME's, the setting for VTF should be done with a scale or a gauge, AS I check with Audacity and the ears and VTA & azimuth visually !
