I have one now, I had two in the late '70's early '80's. The first one was a BIC, don't remember the model. They were made in Westbury, NY where I grew up.

Then in '81 I think, is when I bought the Technics SL-D202 which I still have and just started using again. Today I replaced the cartridge from an Ortofon VMS 3E with 2M Red.

The 2M Red seems to be a little brighter than the old VMS 3E.

I polished out almost all of the scratches in the dust cover. The cover no longer is able to flip up/down due to the plastic tabs being broken.

The 2M Blue is worlds apart from the Red. I got the Blue first, then the Red for another deck. I don't even use it now. Really... I don't know why everyone raves about the Red.

May I ask, what did you use to polish the dustcover?

MEGUIAR'S HEAVY DUTY HEADLIGHT RESTORATION KIT This has worked wonders for me. I have now taken the liquid they sell and found fine wet sand paper that workes and is much less expensive, but the liquid product that Miguira sells for headlight restoration is my go to for dust covers that are lightly scratched...

Ok in my above post talking about my turntable and 2m red cartridge. Wellllll, I was cleaning the turntable and resoldered new RCA gold plated jacks into the unit. Which went well by the way. Upon giving the SL-D202 a final cleaning the tip of the rag caught the needle and bent it bad.

I'm feeling like such an idiot. I was 5 seconds away from being done too...…..

I only had the 2m red less than 24 hours. So I had to buy another one, but this time I went the 2m blue.

A similar thing happened to me one time when I was repairing a turntable for a friend. All it needed was a little bit of soldering, which I did without issue. When I was realigning the cartridge, one of my fingers slipped and bent the stylus cantilever. #-o

It was embarrassing, AND I had to buy him a new stylus. At least it was only a $70 stylus and not a $2000 MC or something.

Well, you know what that means, Dave...The last two should be next on the list, with the Help of the Engineers here!

I have a Dual 1019 and they are no slouches, my friend! Check out Klaus' step-by-step detailed restoration here!
