I really like the Decades, MCM_Fan...And I envy you finding the lamp! :( Plus, I must say...You have an incredible eye for retro decor! Just a thought, but have you ever considered a geometric-patterned rug or something that looks like a Jackson Pollock painting? Maybe something along these lines that match the colors of the wall art a bit...

Also, that room would look good with a leather Eames chair like this for listening, perhaps? :-k

Remember that the 50's and 60's were all about bold colors and designs, as attested by the clock and desk lamp...I've also heard that a little color and style in a room never hurt anyone, if it's in the right proportions...

A thought, in any case, from one MCM fan to another!
The holy grail of recliners.

Ha! It's funny you mentioned the Eames lounge chair. I mentioned in a thread on another forum that I just needed one with the palisander rosewood veneer to complete my room. This was the photo I used:

I do have a more colorful area rug upstairs I am considering moving to my downstairs listening area. You can see a little of it in the bottom of this photo:

Definitely more colorful than the one I currently have downstairs.

I like the console, too, MCM...And I like the TV mounted above it! It makes me wonder if anyone has ever modified an old console/credenza/buffet like that to hold DVD's, other audio or video equipment (aka DVD player, blu-ray, cable box, surround sound or stereo receiver, etc.)...The sunburst clock is also cool! 8) In any case, it might be worth it to play around with a couple of the pieces you have and see what works...Definitely an Eames chair, though (whether vintage or new), should be on the list! :D

I guess great minds DO think alike!

I sold that console when I moved and downsized to a smaller place. Too many stereos, not enough rooms! I also have a new, larger TV. It's currently mounted above the BP John credenza in the photo below and the two Lane record cabinets are now part of my downstairs system - which makes sense, since that's where my turntable is.

MCM_fan I really like your décor. I have a console stereo in my garage waiting for some refurbishing and a Bluetooth hookup. I have already done one and gave it to my son it is sitting in his office at his house. I would like to find one of those Lane record cabinets and reverse engineer it. VM I have seen quite a few console stereos modified at repurpose stores.

Thanks! I kept that Zenith 100% stock. It was a gift from someone who bought it from the original owner. He'd originally bought it for his wife as a Christmas present in 1965. It was given to me as a Christmas gift in 2012. It was the TOTL model at the time, with 225 WPC and some SERIOUS heat sinks on the output transistors! The original owner was in Chicago and had it regularly maintained by the factory techs from Zenith. He included all the original documentation and service records with the console.

I did, however hook up an Airport Express and a Schiit Modi 2 Uber DAC to the auxiliary input for wireless streaming.

I need to get one of those Eames Lounge Chairs for listening. Had one 25 years ago, but it might have been a reproduction. No idea where it wound up!

Thanks Fade Away!
My biggest regret was never seeing Yes when I was younger. Obviously they are one of my favorite bands.

Thank you :D
Those are Triangle Celius 202's
I picked them up used a few years ago. For the price that they are going for on the used market, they are really tough to beat.
