Wow vtglife, 60 years and the phono stage is all fine, that's damned impressive.

DS
Yeah absolutely absurd. And not just fine. Sounded great. Blew away any fisher phono stage I've ever heard and I liked it more than the Scotts too that are decent. Only upgraded to an outside phono pre for even better sound. And it was close at first. Impressive.

Only part that wasn't upgraded. Like I said the entire amp has been recapped, even the big metal can caps up top have been replaced by nice new ones. But yeah I couldn't believe it.

a Little bit of progress. I positioned and wired 6 of the recessed LED lights. My Thorens is down for the moment for a tonearm rewire, so for now I am "suffering" with my RP6. They will both be part of the permanent setup. The Rega will be going on a wall mount, which I think will go to the right, near the component stand. I think the Teac will stay on top of the stand, My Revox B77 is just out of the frame to the left. The stand mount Cabridge Audio speakers will be finding a new home elsewhere in the house.

Looks nice man. Like how it's coming together. I noticed everyone uses the same thing for record storage. I have it too. Things are so nice. I didn't even know at the time when I bought one that people used those. I was like wait a minute, these look like they're built for them. Haha. Only issue is, I don't have room now in the dam room with the TT. It's one room over. So it's a little silly. Working on figuring that out right now. I saw one that stands up like a record store which was cool that I might be able to for.

New guy here this is a cool post I am perpetually broke as well most of the equipment i have i found on the street back in the 90s when people were ditching their old hifi systems for cd player +tape deck with radio boomboxes.
everything except my pioneer PL 115D turntable I found without spending one red cent and for not spending any money I am more than happy with the sound keepin it old school I guess
Cheers

I like the old record crates, greg! Very old-school!! 8)

And it's very cool to save money at the same time! I remember when vinyl was going out of style in the early 90's and bought up a bunch of records CHEAP when one of our local chains closed...Ain't it nice to see those same records making a comeback??? :-k :D

Thanks vinyl master I like storing my records that way because it is much easier to move them if I need to
I also find it reassuring for lack of a better word that so many people are into old dusty audio formats they sound stellar when well taken care of and cleaned properly
Although I must admit the excessive over inflation of record prices these days is rather frustrating
I first started collecting records in the early 90s and remember paying 25 cents up to a dollar or two max for many a grail record back then
I specifically remember one of the first record purchases I made back then was an original pressing of dark side of the moon with the two posters and the stickers untouched I payed 75 cents for it something that I will never see again
I'm glad I kept all that stuff because I would not be able to afford it today if I were to repurchase all those records
Cheers

I love that Audio Technica (Stanton, Reloop, same thing) Turntable. Its great for listening and solid for DJing. It really is an unsung turntable in the DJ community, and it looks great. I tip my hat to Hanpin for that one. Theyre all over ebay and actually have more torque than even the new Technics turntables.
