Wife: "no wires" & "aesthetically the stereo's just dont work in the house"... Next thing I knew, I was in the garage.

haha... sounds familiar, but it was more likely the speaker stands that got you the boot

that's a sweet garage set up!!

Those do look fantastic and they sound pretty awesome...The guy I bought my recent Advents from told me that he's never heard a speaker in his life better than the AR3a...I'd love to know if he's right... :-k

What do you think, sberger? Best speakers ever? :-k

Well they sound great. They are my favorite speaker. It's a combination between the 12" woofer and the acoustic suspension box that contains them that brings about a big round sound that makes it a complete delight to listen to music all day long.

These 3a's are the early version that has the same alnico, cloth surround woofer as the AR 3(would love a pair of those but at current prices it won't happen). To my ears, a little better sonically then then later foam surround. One of the original tweeters went out before I bought them so the owner replaced both with HiVi tweeters, which are very close to the original. But I tried them with the tweeters disconnected and with my JansZen 1-30's instead, and like the sound a little more. Just a personal preference. So the set up is essentially what was used with the AR 1 or 1W back in the day.

Combining the 3a's with a McIntosh MC2105 is sublime. I more or less am done with tweaking my rig.

Here is an updated photo of my listening Shed. I've just added a Meridian 557 power amplifier in place of a couple of Meridian 555s. Happy bunny :D
That's a really nice shed! =D>

Thanks Shed man and Ethorn66. I read thru this entire thread over the past year +. Sooo many great spaces, especially the dedicated rooms and sheds - Shed man.

Know this: Interior Decorator = Stereo/AV Desimater

Absolutely no flaming me for this, but I have never understood hearing all my life from guys that "my wife won't let me" do whatever. I'm coming up on our 40th Anniversary next month and it is always discussed and compromises are made on both sides. At one time I had 8ft line array towers and a 8ft long subwoofer under a 120" projection screen in the living room, and she loved it.

I simply ran out of characters or I would have listed more of my gear.

How about this for a compromise? I'll build you a sewing room, craft room, walk-in shoe closet, ultimate kitchen, "she-shed", etc. if you allow me a mancave, music room, bar in the basement, crash pad, listening shed, etc. There ought to be a way where everybody can be happy...If not, something must be wrong... :-k

Whatever happened to compromise??? What about 50/50??? Or are those just bad words nowadays??? :?

Too many people think they're all right when in reality, they're probably all wrong!

We're all lucky that we at least have the means to enjoy our vinyl in many different ways, everything else is bonus.
