What tonearm is this?

Post by Mikigg14 » 17 Jan 2020 16:28

Hi everyone

I found this tonearm and I'd like to know which model it is and what its characteristics are. The brand is Michell England. I think that is the RB300, but I could not find a single one on the net.
Thank you very much
Regards

Sure looks like an RB300 to me.
Interesting base.

Cheers,
Alec

Hi Alec

I looked around a bit and it seems to be an RB300, it doesn't seem to be an OEM Michell but strangely it has the writing Michell.
In fact, I'd like to know the name and above all characteristics of this tonearm: if it is identical to Rega, or if it has different specifications, cable, bearings and so on.
The base is definitely Michell.

Thank you

Michell used Rega arms. They make mods for them, too.

Alec

Hi Alec

do you think it is better in this Michell version than Rega or identical with a different sticker? with which cartridge are these arms ok?
I have a 103, the Supex SD900, an AT 7F audio-technica, a Shure VST V .... something recommended among them?

Thank you

Pretty sure it's the same arm Mitchell just bought them OEM. I think that AT might work well.

I'd be keen to try them all, but the Supex first.

hello Alec thank tou.
But in a tonearm like this, how can you adjust the height.
Let me explain better, in technics 1210, turn the ring nut, in the SME loosen two screws and adjust the height, compared to the plate. In these Rega, Michell etc. what can be done?
thank you

Hello sturgus

why do you think about AT? for a physical factor of the cartridge?

Thank you

Rega did not make their arms with height adjustments, but several others made adapters, including simple spacers and threaded collars.
Apparently, a bicycle headset spacer, available in graduated thicknesses, fits perfectly.

Cheers,
Alec

So ask for 2 million dollars: do you think I take this Rega Michell RB300 or a classic SME 3900 ??
For now I should use it on a Technics SL120.

Thanks
