Thorens TD125 Mk 11

Post by c00lant » 09 Dec 2019 18:27

Hi everybody

I've just inherited some stuff amongst which is above deck. The belt kept slipping so I purchased a new one [£25 for a rubber band?! ouch]
Well worth it to make the TT work. Except it doesn't. Put belt on between guides, start up, fine, stop and the belt drops on motor pulley to smaller dia lower down. Repeatedly. ``Am I missing something or do I have a problem. We moved and possibly something happened, though I can see nothing amiss.
Goes with Quad amp and Quad ESL 63 electrostatics. Sounded good to me.
Now I need a CD player, What should I get? Any thoughts
Thanks in advance

A few days ago I bought a TD125 MKII from a guy here in Houston/Tx. The belt which was on it did not slip, but it took longer than 2 seconds to come to 33rpm. I changed the belt with the one I bought from here:https://vinylnirvana.com/product-catego ... art-td-125. It has the Thorens logo on it. Now it works like a charm. :D

On the website I posted above there is a blog: https://vinylnirvana.com/turntable-blog

Just scroll down to Extending the life of your turntable belt. There are some tips which you might try first.
