Adjusting auto lift on Technics SL 1500 C

Post by fitnessinstbob » 09 Dec 2019 16:03

I have a Technics SL 1500 C that the auto lift sometimes lifts prematurely while other times it lifts at the end of the track as its supposed to do. There’s supposed to be a service manual that describes how to do this. Also have to put the turntable into service mode and I’m not sure how to do that.
Anyone else with this turntable have a similar problem?
Thanks.

You can find the service manual here:

https://www.vinylengine.com/library/tec ... 500c.shtml

Also, you can contact Technics tech support by email at technicssupport@us.panasonic.com

Thank you for the link. I’ll take a look at it.

I sent emails twice to Technics support and never received a reply. That was over three weeks ago.
Regards, Bob

Actually, I already have the service manual but someone mentioned putting the turntable into service mode first. I don’t see anything in my manual regarding service mode.

The Service Mode section starts on page 28.

Also check out page 18.

My apologies! I have the owners manual, not the service manual.
I clicked on the link for the service manual, but it’s not downloading, only buffering.
I will try it later.
Thank you kindly for your help.

I’ve decided to wait until I’ve changed out my stylus from the stock Ortofon 2M to a concorde -type Ortofon stylus.
Perhaps that will correct the auto lift.

I wouldn't think that would correct it. Let us know.

You might be right. Someone who lives in my area and a fellow audiophile who is more familiar with turntables than me,will come over this weekend and help me replace the new stylus and check the auto lift.

An update on the auto lift.
After replacing the stock cartridge with the Ortofon Concorde-style cartridge, i’m no longer having an issue with the auto lift picking up prematurely.
