Kenwood KD-2055 tonearm mass

My buddy has a KD-2055 and is shopping for a new cartridge. I can’t seem to find a spec for the effective mass of the arm.
He is considering a Goldring 2500 tip. I’m worried that he may be shooting too far up the ladder for that table.
Any suggestions for a good choice? He is spending a lot.

It's probably medium mass. It's an S shaped arm from a capable maker, and how good a cartridge it justifies is probably more a matter of how good the bearings are than its mass. Ultra low mass and ultra high mass arms can be problematic, but medium mass ones are well matched to the majority of cartridges.

Thanks. I talked him out of buying a Rega planar3 with the RB330 arm. Can’t see that being much better than his Kenwood. He declined buying my Ariston with Series III arm and Goldring 1042 for $1500 CDN.
Custom plinth on it too that was made with guitar neck quality exotic wood.
Kinda happy that he didn’t grab it up. I couldn’t make it again as the trees are all gone now.

Gotta say I'm with him. Those Kenwoods are nice tables, and as much as I love the Series III, 1500 is a big number.
