Nottingham Horizon noisy motor

I have had this turntable for many years, but I have noticed increased noise from the motor when playing records. I have tried to get the level of the motor correct, but the noise keeps returning. Does the motor require any oil?

Thanks,
Ken

Both motor bearings should be oiled. Use sewing machine oil for the motor.
The platter bearing should have fresh oil, too.
Ideally, the bearings should be cleaned first, but the motor might present too much of a challenge for this.
There is a user's manual in the VE library. It might have a suggestion.

Be aware that the little Premotec AC motor used by Nottingham Analogue is no longer produced, so if it needs replacing, get one now!

I removed the pulley wheel from the motor (gently), then I added one drop of Zoom Spout oil to the top to the motor shaft. The noise is gone!

I usually just put a drop of oil on a small screwdriver, and slip that under the pulley to touch the motor shaft.
Anyway, whatever works. Glad that everything is running smoothly.

Cheers,
Alec

Can't beat that for a low cost repair! A side effect of what I refer to the "push button mentality" we all fall prone to, such as with CD playback. TTs have a basic mechanical basis and requirements....easy to overlook the need for a drop of oil occasionally. Always nice to hear such happy ending story that does not cost the owner. Love it...
