Just bought a Technics SL-1300
I finally went ahead and pulled the trigger on my first 'vintage' TT, a Technics SL-1300. Is there anything I should be looking for when I receive it? Common problems, parts that break, etc?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hi, the SL 1300 mk1 can have cuing issues but usually it's just the fact that the old damping fluid has leaked out which causes the tonearm to drop like a rock. Or that the damping fluid has turned very thick from age and the cue elevator will not drop onto the record. There can also be issues with the automatic functions again because of old grease in the mechanism. I have worked on a couple of sl 1300 in recent weeks and quite a few of other Technics DD turntables both full auto and semi auto. I have pictures of the areas in these mechanism that can freeze up from old grease to help guild you a long if you need it. Once you get the turntable or if you have it now check it over. If you have any issues or just want to know what to service on it let me know. I will be happy to help.

Thanks Musucmn! I would very much appreciate any info that you have on the SL 1300. What is the easiest way for you to share the pictures and info? The table will probably not be delivered until early next week, maybe this Saturday... but I am not counting on it. It was just dropped off at the PO in Maryland this morning, I am in Texas.musicmn wrote: ↑13 Nov 2019 16:19Hi, the SL 1300 mk1 can have cuing issues but usually it's just the fact that the old damping fluid has leaked out which causes the tonearm to drop like a rock. Hi, I will check all the pictures I have and post the ones I think will help you the most. I'll just post them here in the next couple of days in case someone else down the line needs them.
