DIY Upgrades

Tell us about your Upgrades
I will start Sansui SR222 mk5
1 removed short wood screws securing main bearing to chassis drilled though and secured with machine screws and washers.
2 cut to shape self adhesive roof flashing to inside edge of platter, belt drive ring and underside parts of platter.
3 also added to underside of chassis
4 brought speed calibration disc and reset speed which was out on both settings
5 upgraded old linn k5 with AT95e stylus to Ortofon M2 Red

would be useful if you documented what 'improvement' in sound you think you found...

That Sansui is a really solid turntable, would be better buying a different cartridge, better stylus if improvement in sound is desired.

Well the Ortofon Red is digging more detail. I have been played my new and 25 year old albums 12 inch singles and hearing detail and definition not heard before. The balance is very even with good detail articulate taught bass and nice vocals. It will be. Interesting to see how it runs in.

Before the cartridge change the bass definition was better after the mods and the sound was just cleaner. Did consider fitting an off board linear power supply but that may be another project.
