help needed - Rega P2 loses speed?

Post by ChuckPounder » 20 Jun 2019 21:38

I own and use an old Rega Planar 2 turntable (the model with the green logo), and have trouble keeping the RPM speed right. The plate requires a light push to start rotating after I've flipped the starter switch, and the records sound like they rotate just a smidge slower than they should. I've tried switching out the belt, which helped for a day or so until the same problems came back again. Is this a known problem with these (or other) models? Any tips on how I'd be able to resolve it?

Check your motor pulley, as these often come loose. Gently hold the pulley and turn the motor on. You may feel it slip. A small drop of super glue sorts it.

Thanks, I'll have a look on Monday. Posted just before I went away for the weekend, smartly enough.
